Course Lessons

You will receive 40 interactive lessons for the course, posted online. You will receive four lessons per week for 10 weeks, except for the week we are at our group retreat. Each week’s teleseminar will be based on the lessons that precede it.

Each lesson contains a theme and an exercise or several questions to help you put the principles into practice and develop specific insights and skills. Your application of the lessons will make the course meaningful in your experience and build the skills you desire. You do not have to submit your responses to the exercises. They are for your personal practice and benefit.

Teleseminars

Each week we will meet on the telephone for a one-hour teleseminar. If there are more questions or other items for discussion, the teleseminar may be extended up to 15 minutes. On the Contact page you will find all the access information to dial into the teleseminars, including local access numbers in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Australia. You can also access via Skype.

The initial 10 teleseminars will be held Tuesday evenings beginning January 6 through March 31. The 4 practicum teleseminars will be held on April 21, May 5, 12, 26, 2015. This schedule may be subject to minor revisions which we will let you know about well in advance.

The teleseminar time is:

5:30 PM Pacific Time, 6:30 Mountain, 7:30 Central, and 8:30 Eastern.
If you are calling from another time zone and wish to check your coordinated time, visit http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html.

Each teleseminar will begin with a short centering exercise, after which Alan will highlight the important points of the lessons for the week. Then the forum will be open for you to share any insights, experiences, or questions related to the lessons or course principles and how you are applying them. On some calls everyone will speak, and on others we may focus on several people’s sharing. Everyone will have ample opportunity to have your course needs met.

After the main body of lessons (the first 10 teleseminars) the remaining 4 teleseminars will be a practicum in which we will focus on sharing your experiences in your practice coaching sessions and putting the principles into action.

All the teleseminars will be recorded, so you can listen to them afterward if you like. A website link to the recording will be posted on the lessons menu.

Personal Coaching

The program includes one 60-minute personal coaching session with Alan, during which you can explore and receive support toward your life coaching practice and anything else important to you.

Personal coaching sessions will begin in January and go through March. Your session can be recorded for your personal reference, and afterward you will receive a web link to access it. Sessions are strictly confidential and no one else will have access to your recording.

To sign up for your personal coaching appointment, go to your personal coach dashboard and click on Coaching Signup. Coaching slots will posted on December 1, 2014.

In-Person Training/Retreat

The retreat is one of the highlights of the program, bringing us all together in an inspiring setting to build your coaching skills, enjoy mutual support, and nurture your soul. You will receive more information about the retreat as the time approaches. For now, the information below will help you prepare.

Location Dates, Arrival, and Departure

Our retreat will take place at the beautiful Banyan Tree Retreat Center, located near the charming historic town of Makawao on the slopes of Haleakala, Maui’s famous sacred dormant volcano. We have chosen the site for its beauty, privacy, comfort, the consciousness of the people who manage it, and the energy contributed by many individuals and groups that have visited the center for spiritual retreats and healing. Although Banyan Tree enjoys a central location, it is pleasantly removed from Maui’s hotel and resort areas, and it offers a quiet retreat with spectacular views of a large portion of the island. Most rooms have private bathrooms; all rooms have bathrooms a few steps from your door. There is a large swimming pool and Jacuzzi for your enjoyment, as well as lovely landscaped grounds. For information about the retreat center, including driving directions, visit http://www.bed-breakfast-maui.com/

Island Transportation

We recommend Sheila’s Taxi (1-808-357-8421) to get to and from the retreat center. Sheila’s staff are familiar with our programs, generous with their time, and will help you get a few supplies before taking you to the retreat center, if you like. They also coordinate arrivals, so if another participant is arriving in your time frame, they will pick you up together to share costs.  They accept cash, checks, and travelers checks. Call in advance to make a reservation and/or coordinate with other arriving students.

If you choose to rent a car, Car Rental Hawaii (CarRentalHawaii.com) is very reliable and gives a good discounts on rentals:  They are operated by conscious managers and will get you cars from all the major companies. You can also car pool with other participants. The group discussion board on the coach dashboard will offer you the opportunity to coordinate shared travel if you wish.

Program

The daily schedule includes interactive seminars to build your coaching skills and enhance your personal/spiritual growth, including attention for each student, guided meditation, delicious meals, and some free time for self-renewal. Massage services will be available from top practitioners. Schedule specifics will follow.

Retreat Room and Meals

The cost for room will depend on your room choice. All of the rooms are double occupancy. Rooms will be allocated in the order of requests received. For room choices and prices, please email or phone the Banyan Tree House directly at info@banyantreehouse.com or 1-808-572-9021.

All meals will be together starting with dinner on Wednesday and ending with lunch on Sunday. Our stellar chef is highly skilled and offers plenty of aloha! Meals are mostly organic, healthy, tasty, and prepared with love. A protein is available at every meal, including chicken or fish. Our chef will accommodate special dietary needs if you let us know at least three weeks in advance,, by January 7. The total cost of the meals is approximately $250 for the entire retreat, paid through our office on or before December 15. Since we must pay the caterer in advance, meal payments are non-refundable. An optional gratuity will be taken for the chef at the end of the program.
